Total Decon Process

We understand that Cancer in the Fire Service is a concern that is only recently becoming a topic of conversation. While it has always been there, we are finally accepting the facts about the hazards that we expose ourselves to. We want to make sure that everyone goes home, and we are genuinely committed to helping you meet your goal not to track the fire home with you.

We have partnered with Responder Wipes and Solutions Safety Products. Responder Wipes are used primarily to aid in the cleaning and removal of soot, smoke and other potential carcinogens of complete and incomplete combustion. Solutions Safety Products is the manufacturer of CITROSQUEEZE and SC-14Ⓡ. CITROSQUEEZEⓇ Turnout Gear & PPE Cleaner is the leading technical detergent available in North America for the safe cleaning of oil, soot, grease, and other hydrocarbon contaminants from all types of PPE apparel and FR clothing. SC-14Ⓡ is a ready-to-use, all-purpose cleaner that is biodegradable, non-corrosive (near-neutral pH), environmentally safe and user-friendly. Next, with every unit we sell, we will be making a donation of $100.00, in the name of your choice, to the Carney Strong Initiative. We feel that with all of these great partnerships and groups efforts we can educate and mitigate the effects of cancer in the fire service.

Our recommended steps to ensure that we have Total Decon is:

  1. Open the GEARsafe compartment

  2. Dry Brush Decon Gear

  3. Wet Decon Gear

  4. Spray gear with CITROSQUEEZE

  5. Rinse Gear

  6. Remove your gear from your body

  7. Place the gear in the compartment

  8. Wipe yourself down and anything you touched with the Responder Wipes

  9. Transport the gear back to the firehouse

  10. Remove the gear from the compartment

  11. Clean/Decon gear per your SOGs

  12. Clean the compartment with the SC-14
